I've been working on my niece Melissa's baby shower invitations recently. I really get a lot of joy out of creating something so beautiful for someone I love so much. I put a little bit of that love into each and every one.
I almost hesitate to post these pics because I could not get the coloring just right and as always when it's not they never look as beautiful as they do in person. This is one of those cases but I wanted to start posting to my blog again (after some great encouragement from many of you!)
Here are a few of the fun steps in making a pasal of these:
They started with some fun watercoloring. Sorry this is an old retired set but the theme was nesting and this was one of my FIRST stampin' Up! sets 8 or more years ago and I just recently reaquired it from my dear friend Heather and it seemed to be perfect for this occassion. Note I started with one layer of color then highlighted with a darker shade to really plump up the birds.
Then I got to do my favorite thing....cut them all out by hand! NOT!! but remember what I said...it was a labor of LOVE! And this I LOVED doing for my special girl.
I had made the oval punched images on My Digital Studio because I did not own the invitation stampset but could get it "instantly" on My Digital Studio! (oh boy is this instant gradification gal in trouble) That was really GREAT to have that available though! Then I stamped the nest image on the tag before punching and sponging. This is what 55 of them look like in a pile.
I attached the little birdies to the oval with the Mono Multi Adhesive I love this glue! I had no fears of them birdies falling off in the mail when I only had a small area to glue.
Then it was time to make a big confetti mess! I punched the ribbon border to attach to the front of the card and then I cut it down the middle. You will see it on the finished card.
This is how cute this little border looks like when all the cards are lined up. The colors are Soft Suede and Perfect Plum in case you can't tell.
I added the belly band and here they all are lined up ready to be mailed out. So now for the full card front and inside
Just incase you were thinking I came up with the whole idea myself I can't take full credit. It all started with the a picture I saw on the cover of the Stampin' Success magazine that Stampin' Up! sends out to us as demonstrators. I changed the colors to the "Mother to be's" personal choice and added our theme of "nesting" along with my own tweaks. It may look nothing like the original but the inspiration was definitely there and didn't come straight out of my mojo brain bank...not this time anyway! ;-)
