Last weekend my Stampin' Up! group put on our Annual "Spring into Stamping" event. There were 100 demonstrators together in East Central Illinois learning and sharing. It was so much fun!
At the last minute I had to jump in and demonstrate for the group. I pondered what to show when an email came into my inbox. (devine interventions? No silly it was from Splitcoaststampers :) It was featuring the Faux Patina technique. Interesting I thought. Simple supplies (whisper white paper and classic ink pads) quick and easy with fabulous results. I jumped on it and started making some faux patina papers. I was in love! But now what? Samples! I need full blown samples to show. Well, it looks like a pressed metal sheet and when I thought pressed metal sheets I turned to Monica Weaver. I looked at some of her samples and honestly I was short on time so I basically copied them. If you can use pressed metal on a card you can use the faux patina in my opinion. The depth of color you can get from this technique is even more beautiful. It's all about layering color and building depth.
Here is one of my samples for today, I CASED this sample from Monica's site. Let me know what you think about the faux patina in place of the metal. Leave me a comment I'd love to hear from you.
This sample uses the Apothecary Art Stamp set from the Mini catalog which will no longer be available after the end of April so if you NEED this beautiful set like I did you can order it here. You can read the instructions on Splitcoaststampers here. On this sample I used Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry, Cherry Cobbler and Basic Grey with Pewter powder overall. Now go stamp something!
