Spring Into Stamping~Annual Inspiration, Creation, & Sharation

Ok so I got a little carried away on the title...go with M.E. here.  This weekend was our annual gathering of demonstrators along with a few guests who belong to or are a part of our whole demonstrator group.  We Inspire, We Create & We Share.

This was our 10th annual. I have been to and learned from every single one of them!

Our Theme was "Events" and our guest speaker Carol Payne didn't let us down.  She filled our heads and our calendars with all kinds of classes to show you! Thanks Carol!

Glenda Travelstead was just one of many who shared during our demonstration "fair".  So many ideas to share. There were 12 different stations over the course of the day.

We got to make the most awesome make n take projects together, designed by the talented Julie Davison

The best part for me is I got to spend the day with some of my favorite people! Here is Ramona, Cathy and Jackie. Stamping friends are the best.  I would have never met any of these beautiful ladies without being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator!  If you want to be a part of a great talented (we all start somewhere) group of women please drop me a line.  I would love to have you join the Create With M.E. team.

I even got to demonstrate this fun technique on stage which I call "Poly Reverse". Named because you are using the reverse side of your Photopolymer stamps to create the colored background before you use your stamp in the traditional way to add the image.  Here is one card I demonstrated on stage.

Notecard Purse Gift Bag~Video Tutorial

This weekend I got to spend Saturday with some of my favorite people, at our annual Spring into Stamping meeting. Many of my fellow demonstrators.  It was a group of about 100 women who Create, Inspire and Share. This was our 10th annual and I have been so lucky and blessed to have been involved in all 10 of them, and as usually I can say this one was the BEST ever! 

I have so much to share with you about the weekend.  Friends and Projects but that will have to wait.  2 weeks ago I had a little studio time for myself <#neverseemstohappen> and I wanted to figure out how to make those cute little paper satchel purse bags that I have seen popping up on Facebook and Pinterest.  I found a pattern for one that was from the UK (sorry can't find it now to give credit but when I do will add) and had to convert it to imperial measurements. When I finished it, it was WAY too big for what I wanted. I liked the shape and idea, so although it took me 2 tries, I got it down to the perfect size for what I was wanting.  To hold a gift of notecards and maybe a pen and a few postage stamps perhaps.

Well, I brought my 3 samples with me this weekend for the display table and so many lovely ladies asked me to share that I thought I would spend my, what was now an unexpected day off making a video! It's been awhile so be kind.  I love to know what you think so please watch and leave me a comment on what you think and if something isn't clear.

So before you get started here are the pieces you will want to have ready to go:

Designer Series Paper:

2- 8" x 4" pieces

Coordinating Cardstock:

1- 7 1/2" x 4" scored at 1" from all 4 sides

4- 1/2" x 8" strips.  You can add faux stitching to 2 of these pieces

2- 1" x 8" strips. Scallop edge these along one long edge and faux stitch as shown.

2- 1" x 11" strips score in half lengthwise between 1 1/2" + 9 1/2"

Now that you have all your pieces prepped please watch the video to put your purse together. 

 

Here is a snapshot of the cards that you can put inside to complete your gift.  Use the left over pieces from your Designer Series Paper and Coordinating card stock along with the matching Painted Petals stamp set.  If you put 4 cards in each purse along with the matching envelopes you can make 5 of these purses with minimal supplies out of hand.  That will make 5 happy people in your life! Of course the purse will hold many more cards if you like too.

Moon Lake~Guy Greetings

I think one of the hardest card catagories to make is one for a gentleman, a dude, a guy. You know, a masculine card. I do not think I am in the minority here either. I hear it all the time at classes.  "I need a card for a MAN!" Well, what fun is that?! No bows? No pink? No flowers?  NO GLITTER!!! <gasp> This is one area that paper-crafters struggle with.  Making paper crafts something even a man would understand and love. 

Lucky for YOU Stampin' Up! has a plethora of fabulous products to make even the most manly man who receives one of these say "Yeah, that's cool.  You made this?" (Lower your "mind voice" when you read it, maybe even put your finger between your nose and your lip to mimic a mustachio, that is what I imagine it would be like in my mind LOL)

What about a card for a classic....Dad, Husband, Brother, Son.  The options are endless with this set.  There are so many great images in this set but here I used the classic car image (no I do not know what it is, I'm a girl but they will that's all that matters) Some of my tips for making cards for a man that I shared with my class is.  Keep it clean, Stay away from bows, I would almost go so far to say ribbon (twine is ok) Use distressing, they like that stuff it uses tools.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this paper pack called 'Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack'.  You get 48 sheets with 4 sheets of 12 double sided designs.  It's is pre-cut to 4.5" x 6.5" so great for cards and your Project Life pages.  You NEED this paper if you have men in your life!  You will be using this for EVERYTHING Masculine!

This next card uses a set called Moon Lake.  It has 3 different outdoor images.  The place that most men wish they lived.  I used the canoe image and did a really simple watercolor on this card and used the water image from the Adventure Bound DSP as a backdrop.  Remember, when you are going to watercolor, always use Stazon ink.  It's alcohol based and it won't run when you apply water to it.  I LOVE to use watercolor paper because I can add and remove color (if I get too much) and I do not have to worry about my paper pilling or soaking through. 

I used my ink pads as a paint palate.  Squeeze your Stampin' Up! pad while it is closed.  That will get some ink on the inside of the lid.  You can pick up this ink with your Aqua Painter.  You can also use ink refills but usually even a full drop of ink refill is WAY more than you need for a small image like this.  The lid palate works fabulously.

If you get too much color you can wipe your Aqua Painter off on your scrap paper or a paper towel and pull extra color off with a clean painter.  It's so much fun you may not be able to stop!

Big Day~WWYS Challenge Blog Card

 

I am so happy to share a card with you that is featured on the What Will You Stamp Challenge Blog this week.  Four weeks ago this challenge blog was introduced and I decided then I would try to enter as many weeks as I could, I totally missed last week. :-\ But this week I am honored to be the guest designer for the wonderful set called Big Day!  I love this set! 

Here is the card I created for the blog.  I hope you will visit this fun blog and join in on the fun this week!

I know it seems like there is a lot going on in this card but it really came together fairly fast.  I love the Chalkboard look so let's start with the greeting embossed in white on our new Chalkboard paper. 

Then I wanted to add some pizzazz to the card with sparkle.  The front of my crumb cake base was embossed with the polka dot textured Impressions folder so I mimicked the polka dots with Dazzling Diamond Glimmer paper that I sprayed with an assortment of Bright colored Ink Refills that I combined with alcohol in my stampin' spritzers.  This was a lot of fun!  I let it dry and punched out a few 3/4" circles and "threw" them on the card as birthday confetti! 

I wanted the cake to shine through so I punched a 1 3/8" circle on the front of my card so the cake can be the star of both the front and inside of the card as shown here.

I colored my cake with Stampin' Write Markers and topped the frosting and candle flame off with a little dazzling diamonds and 2 way glue pen. It really makes it sparkle!

Add a pretty little bow with Calypso Coral Chevron Ribbon and a little touch of the Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim.  So pretty and festive.  I love how the saying outside and in states one of the best things, in my opinion, about a birthday.  Cake & Ice Cream of course! (are you listening family? My birthday is next month and last year I had to buy my own cake! tisk, tisk)

Butterfly Basics~Guest Designer Betsy Crider

I have a great friend named Betsy that I met through Stampin' Up! a few years ago. First we were just virtual friends because I live in Illinois and she lives in Pennsylvania and we would just see emails from each other on our group page. She signed up with Stampin' Up! with the same wonderful friend that I did, Meg Loven.  So we are "sisters" you could say, but last year when Stampin' Up! announced their incentive trips we became accountability partners. 

We share with each other, we encourage each other and most of all we listen to each other.  We text, talk or email almost daily.  Our businesses are very similar in scope so it's a very good match and a tremendous help to me and I hope to her too.  Anywho this week she sent me a fun surprise in the mail.  I just HAD to show you!

Her artwork is just amazing and I love everything about this card.  Look at her attention to detail!  The envelope is almost as amazing as the card itself and the inside of the card matches her envelope design, Awesome Sauce!  Best part is she is so considerate she always encloses her greeting and message on a post it note so I can send this card to someone if I so choose.  (most of the time it's so hard to send it away because I love them soo much!)

Did you notice that she used the Butterflies Thinlits Dies?  The ones that we cant' get our hands on now. :( Bummer right?  Well, maybe not!  I have gotten my grubby (ok not grubby, but inky) hands on a set and I am giving them away for FREE!  They are sitting right here on my desk just waiting for a new home, maybe your home! Berry Basket Bigz~Time For A Visit From The Bunny

Easter is less than a month away and it's time in the craft world to start planning our gifts and treats for the loved ones in our life. I just LOVE this Berry Basket Die and all the possibilities that it brings to my crafting world.  Here is one of my new favorites.

So how about a picture tutorial on how to put it together and what pieces you will need.  Start by die cutting the basket pieces with Baked Brown Sugar paper if you want to match mine.  Start by gluing the scallop strips together as shown.

Leave the scallops up on your work surface just like in the picture above.  Now it's time to add the basket pieces.

I was re-introduced to Fast Fuse last Friday at our all group meeting by my wonderful upline Meg Loven.  She reignited my passion for it.  Now I know a better way to use it.  Instead of ending with the check mark she said to roll our tape and then make a sharp 90 degree swipe at the end. This works perfectly.  I used it on these pieces of the basket.

Hold your basket inside your scallop edging.  Center the basket on each side of the edging and adhere.

Set your basket aside now it's time to make Mr. Rabbit!

 

You will need the above punches and pieces to complete your basket like mine. Be creative I think the ear and feet pieces could easily be interchanged.

Now you need to do a little modifying to the bunnies feet. 

Using the 1/2" circle punch you want to take the die cut image on the right to something that duplicates the image on the left.  To do this you need to do the following:

And then this:

Sponge all your bunny pieces on the edges with pink pirouette ink and a sponge or blushing bride it's really a personal preference on how dark you want your edges to be.  Now it's time to put him together.  you can put your feet and tail where ever you would like.  Here are a couple of different ideas.  I like them both.

Or

I kind of split the difference in my final bunny.  NOTE here that I added some little pads to his feet with a Blushing Bride Marker

Sorry for the blur but I think you can see that I double stacked my Stampin' Dimensionals on my bunny head so that I get some depth so my bunny really looks like he is jumping into my basket of goodies!

Then I used my fringe scissors to make it look like he is jumping right out of the grass into my basket.

Best.Day.Ever!~WWYS#2 Entry

Last week I got this honor. So of course I had to play along again this week.  Watch for my guest appearance on the What Would You Stamp Blog? Challenge in a couple of weeks.

Now I would like to share a project I adapted from this post for week #2 from the What Would You Stamp? Challenge blog using the stamp set Best Day Ever from the FREE Sale-A-Bration selections.

The minute I saw what set was announced for the What Would You Stamp? challenge blog I knew what I was going to create because I had just shared with my Coffee Class Ladies, on Friday morning, a project similar to my previous post and I still had calendars left over. 

Here is my entry to the Best Day Ever Stamp Challenge:

I knew I had to do a little more stamping on mine to really get some good use out of that set.  I stamped three rows of images starting with the random dots in Crushed Curry then a row of the "flower" or "pinwheel" design in Calypso Coral then finishing it out with a row of Coastal Cabana hearts. 

The Best Year Ever Paper coordinates perfectly so I had to do a few flags.  I finished it all off with the greeting Best. Day. Ever. It was easy to do because I cut the words apart. It is a FREE set and I had 2, therefore one to cut apart! YaY!

A few tips on the construction of this desktop calendar.  Use half of an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of cardstock cut long ways and folded in half (4 2/5 x 11) then using a 4 2/5 x 5" pieces of matching cardstock score on the long side at 1", 2 1/2" and 4" and fold into a "W" adhere inside the folded card to make your stand. Use Sticky Strip or Fast Fuse to adhere. Decorate as desired.

Are those the absolute dirties blocks ever? Sorry it's just who I am!

OH OH OH! I have to share a story with you! My customers know that I am not the most meticulous in the cleaning of my stamps. (and they still like me go figure)  I love my stamps and they work just great and so I am often seen cleaning them off on my jeans. (and yes I may have been known to lick one or two, get over it, I just want to prove the ink is non-toxic) My daughter wanted to make one of the projects leftover from Friday's class and she started to wipe the stamps on her jeans.  That was a mother-daughter high five moment. She's so my daughter. 

Back to the project.  I finished off the calendar card with a selection of colored pearls to highlight the Best. Day. EVAH! :)

I thought this would make a fun birthday card for a special lady in my life who's birthday is this Saturday.  I stamped her birth date with the little heart in the set to highlight her special day.  It's my Mother-In-Law Judy. (aka Mom) Happy early Birthday Mom! I love you!  You may or may not get this card in the mail...(she knows me well after 30 years)

Something Lacy~A Lacy Round-Up!

I am rounding up the last of the Something Lacy posts with this beauty which I copied from page 42 of the Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog. I just love how soft and feminine it is.  I think the Something Lacy stamp shouts wedding so I had to show one wedding sample but as you can see in my previous posts it has a wide range of uses.   I hope I have convinced you to add this beautiful background stamp to your repetoire.

Stamp the Something Lacy stamp onto Vellum.  You can emboss this or leave it as is.  If you choose not to emboss it then make sure you use White Stazon ink instead of the White Craft ink.  The craft ink will not dry on the vellum and you will be frustrated.  Turn over your vellum and add some soft color.  Adhere with a few inconspicuous glue dots in the corners and embellish as shown. 

I used the 1/2" circle punch to snip off the corners of my greeting to give it that fun "ticket" look.

12 years ago, in this month of March, I made one of the best decisions of my life.  I started my own business with Stampin' Up!  It was actually, at the time, one of the toughest decisions I had to make. I look back now and think if I knew then what I know now it would be a no-brainer...but I digress.

 

I have made life long friends from all over the world, traveled all over the country and let's face it I get to be crafty and call it work. Did I mention a fully stocked craft studio that I haven't had to pay for?  I love my job!  To celebrate my 12 year anniversary I am giving something away each week in March. 

 

I will draw a name each Sunday from those who place a minimum $50 order via classes, phone, or online using the hostess code for that week. (see this week's prize above) Why $50? Because it's Sale-A-Bration so anyone who orders $50 will automatically earn something FREE from Stampin' Up!  Each $50 gets you a ticket to win.  Place a $100 order get two tickets and 2 Sale A Bration items.  Place a $150 order and you get 3 tickets, 3 Sale A Bration items and you also get hostess benefits (do not use the hostess code if you are placing a $150 order or you will not receive hostess benefits) 

 

When placing an online order make sure you go into your account and under the "My Demonstrator" tab check the YES box so that I can contact you if you win. Otherwise, no prize, not because I don't want to give you the prize but because I will not know who ordered :( and that my friend would make me sad!

Now onto some creativity. I want to post another fun idea using the Something Lacy Stamp Set.

This card was a lot of fun.  A little time consuming but hey it wasn't like I made a quilt! Bwahahaha! I still finished it in one sitting at my desk. 

I Stamped Something Lacy in Versamark on Black paper then heat embossed with White embossing powder.  After heating and letting it cool I colored the raised image with blendability markers.  I then embossed the image from Big On You in Calypso Coral powder and heat until shiny on some Vellum Cardstock.  I adhered the Vellum with Adhesive Sheets and then framed it with a black frame to finish it off.  A few Candy Dots and a punched vellum butterfly finished off with some pearls and it is ready to send.

 

I am currently not including the assorted Blendabilities in the product list below because they are having some quality issues and I want to make sure they are perfect before you get them.
