One of the first sets on my wishlist for the new catalog was the set called Jar of Love. I am a country girl convert. I grew up in the city but moved to the country when I got married 32 years ago. We grew up with a big garden so I always canned with my mom but now we have an even bigger garden and every season I enjoy canning with my daughters and putting up food for the winter. Canning jars are a big part of my life so I had to have it!
Who hasn't used a canning jar to put a bunch of wildflowers in or grabbed a canning jar when your 4 year old decided she wanted a worm farm (truth). Of course the catching of lightening bugs in a jar is just a given. This card features a fun shaker card using the fireflies and some awesome new acetate to dress up the jar.
I stamped a couple fireflies on the background of the jar insides so I would always have some flying in the jar. I colored these in with the gold Wink of Stella pen to give them the matching gold to my glitter. What is the best thing about this set? Most of the images have matching framelits so there is no fussy cutting! I showed it at my Open House last week and people were most happy about that little perk!
I used some gold glitter in my shaker box with a few die cut fireflies. The acetate that I used is the new Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate. It is silver on one side and gold on the other. There are 3 different patterns of 12 x 12 acetate. It's really quite impressive. Here is a tip; there is a protective sheet on the silver side of the acetate. You will not be able to see it so you will think I am telling you a fib but you must believe me and remove this sheet to get crystal clear clarity on your acetate. I would not tell you a fib.
I'm full of tips today but here is another one, when making a shaker card that has glitter in it, pounce your embossing buddy on the inside of your acetate and then wipe with a microfiber cloth (like the block cleaner cloth) to remove the static which makes the glitter cling to your window and not shake around. With this little tip your glitter will bounce all over the place when you shake it and then land right back in the bottom of your jar.
I also used the new embossing folder called Petal Burst on my background. I actually used it, what I would say is 'backwards', if there is such a thing. It gave it a de-bossed look which really suited this card well.

Enjoy!
