Flower Patch~Flower Flair

If I had to pick one stamp set out of the new Stampin' Up! Create, Inspire and Share catalog I think it would have to be the Flower Patch set. (Thank Goodness I didn't have to only pick one though! :) I love the versatility of it.  It's Photopolymer so it's clear-clear for perfect placement. Because it's Photopolymer it sticks to the block like glue. (love that!) Look at all these pieces you get in the set and 3 awesome greetings make's it super GREAT in my book!

It has a matching framelit set called Flower Flair and so that means no fussy cutting with scissors! <cheering crowd sound>

I first stamped with this set at my 3C's class on Friday.  I have been so super busy with wedding plans for my daughter I needed something fast so I found this gorgeous card by Jill Franchett on Pinterest and better yet she had a full pdf of instructions so I didn't have to use my brain. Thank you to people like Jill for generously sharing. I made very little change from hers as you can see for yourself.  (if you choose to use her pdf be aware of some minor measurement errors on the card layers)

Then after all my ladies left Friday I needed to put together 11 swap cards for a group demonstrator meeting that evening. So, since all these supplies were already set up on my work counter I came up with this card.

I started with a 4 x 5.25 inch layer of watercolor paper.  Using my Aqua Painter I picked up some ink from the lid of the Crisp Cantalope ink pad and "washed" it on my paper then I "washed" on some Coastal Cabana ink.  I set this layer aside to dry while I stamped and "cut" with my Big Shot all the flower and greenery pieces from Flower Patch.  I used this sample from the Create, Inspire and Share catalog to help me with my placement.  This catalog is a huge source of inspiration for me and I hope it will be for you too!

You can see where I used the sample and where I went solo. I added a little bling with a Rhinestone that I stepped up with a matching blendabilities pen.  I am not sure I will ever be able to use a Rhinestone straight out of the package again, I love changing the colors with these alcohol based pens and you bet as soon as I get word they are available for YOU to order I will let you know.  Like Create with M.E. on Facebook for the quickest word on all things Stampin' Up!

Personalized Stamps~Business Card Holder

I saw this adorable Business Card holder on Pinterest from Fellow Demonstrator Sam Donald from the UK.  She made a video and joyfully gave us imperial measurements in addition to metric measurements that she uses in her country.  So here is my Version with a full picture tutorial.  This little business card holder is wonderful for anyone who has to display business cards on their desk or that needs to take them to an event with them.  So adorable and versatile.  Make one for every mood or season. Make them as a gift for your friends who own their own Direct Sales Business.  They will LOVE you and appreciate what you do.

Use them for your business, your address, to tell people how you feel about your savior, or to Thank your friends for Celebrating your wedding with you. These are only a fraction of what you can do with them click on the pictures to see what you can do.  It's so much fun to design it and see it at the same time!

So let's start with a picture tutorial on how you to can make this business card holder:

Start with a piece of Cardstock in your choice of color that is 6" x 8 1/4".I used Bermuda Bay here. 

Score it on the Long Side at: 1 1/2", 2 1/4", 5 1/4", and 6 1/4" then turn 90 degrees and score on the Short Side at 1" and 5".

On the long side cut up at the first score marks from each end up to the first score you come to.  Remove everything in between those two cuts as shown.

Score and fold as shown. 

In Sams video she said to put it together and then punch your large oval but she used the new style punch and I still have the old style punch. To use it I had to punch before I assembled, ask me how I learned this...yep the hard way.  I applied my Designer Series Paper piece to what will be the front of the Box.  It is the side that is shorter than the other.  You will see this as you fold the box.  This DSP layer is 3 3/4" x 2".

Add Sticky Strip as shown to both sides and yes use Sticky Strip anytime you are assembling a box because you want it to stay together under repeated use.

You will see that after assembling part of the box as shown your sticky strip on the flaps are as shown.  We found that when we assembled our box at my last team meeting that if you put the back flap over the front flap you will be happier with the look after you taper the ends.  This goes a little against what you might orignally think in your mind to get a "clean look".  Don't worry it will be ok.  So go ahead and put the back side flap over the top of the front side flap and then trim as shown from front to back.

Decorate it as desired.  I added my personlized stamp as a layer and I love it but until yours comes use a button, a flower, a stamp of your choice.  I will bring this to all my craft shows, vendor fairs and events.  How about you?  What do you just have to make this for?  I know my sister is getting one personalized for her Handmade Soap business Chelly & ME Designs

Pinterest Frenzy~What did we do before Pinterest?

Are you Pinterest Crazy?  I feel like maybe it's even saved me time.  Wait..What?! No, really, because I am not spending all my time searching "where did I see that idea?" It's all in one place.  Anyway, I saw this project on pinterest and it was a must do for M.E!  I have two neices who had birthdays right after the first of the year so I knew who they were going to be gifted to just not how I was going to find the time to do them.  But let's get the supplies ordered first.  I was inspired by this post by Micheal Wurm Jr.

I did order my balls from his suggested site. FYI this is not an inexpensive craft project.  I estimate each coaster at about $10 a piece. Trust me when I say these girls of mine are SO worth it!  You might do some more research because my crafty sister insists you can get them cheaper elsewhere. Find out and let me know...PLEASE!  These came from the UK I believe.  So I ordered and totally forgot about them.  They weren't here in a couple days I think it was week or maybe weeks before they arrived in the mail.  It was ok with me because I was busy stamping anyway.

I decided to try the stringing technique before I really knew what I was going to do.  Since I could not figure out how to stitch them it was kinda a waste for me.  I ended up cutting them apart but it did speed things up having them in longer strings. On the upside I took these balls to the oral surgeons office while my daughter was having a tooth extracted and some other horrible things done to her palatte :( and had plenty of time to string them all together and keep my mind off the fact she was having her first surgery. It was also a GREAT conversation starter with everyone in the waiting room.  I met an old friend and I even got the men involved since they didn't love that I had forgotten my scissors and was using my teeth to cut the thread. Out came the pocket knives! :)

And of course I feel like I can show them to you here on my STAMPING blog because of this little cute tag that yes, I did stamp!

I used the Scallop Tag Topper Punch #133324 and stamped it with the Happy Watercolor Stamp Set #133188 Wood Mount and #133191 Clear Mount.

Card In A Box~I call it an addiction, you will too!

If you haven't seen these little cuties on Pinterest then you must not be on Pinterest or friends with the right people! Let's do something about that right now! I have a whole Pin board now just for this adorable box.  Follow M.E. here and look for my card in a box board. I have about 45 samples pinned already and maybe more by the time you get there  It's all about the INSPIRATION or Pin-spiration in this case, wait does that sound like Body Odor? :)

It's so much fun to make and even more fun for the recipient to open.  Yes it closes up to card size and can be mailed in an envelope or better yet make your own with the Envelope Punch board so you can make your Card in a Box any size you want!

What I love about this "Card" is the details.  It's all about the details.  You can fit so much in that it might take you awhile to really see it all.

A friend of mine loved it so much she made a beautiful one full of flowers and butterflies and she so graciously let me showcase it on my Facebook page.  If we aren't friends go like my page because then you would have seen these cards a week ago! Button Buddies~I'm here for you my friend!

I have a friend that is really getting attacked right now in the health department.  I just wanted to let her know how special she is to me and that I am here for her so I made this card for her this morning. 

I was taking my couple minutes on pinterest earlier (ok minutes might be an understatement when talking about pinterest :) and saw a card that really stood out to me.  It was created by Kari Webster a couple years ago. 

Like most cards that I am inspired by on Pinterest, so that I made them my own, I walk away from the computer. I usually sort some laundry, do the dishes, wipe up a counter and then go down to my studio and create from memory so I am making sure it's my own. (if you know me personally you know that the older I get the worse the memory is for M.E.! :) If you want to see the original go to my pinterest paper crafts board. Here is my version: 

I think what I like about it is not only the colors but it really is simple stamping, no layering but yet a very pretty card.  I love my Big Shot, don't get me wrong, but I just used the basics today for an effective look.

I used the Button Buddies #122735 stampset along with the saying from Blooming with Kindness #126420. I added a few bright buttons and finished it off with bakers twine. 

Card went out in todays mailbox.  Hope it brightens her day but mostly let's her know she's not alone in the battle.  I'm praying for her! 

Pinterest~Have you found it's value?

So many people have asked me "why Pinterest"? As I age in life (natural, we all do it) I have trouble remembering things.  Where I put it and where to find it.
